The Irish Dance Studio's Policies:

  • All students must be punctual for class. Please arrive
    5 – 10 minutes early and quietly prepare for class without disturbing classes already in progress.
  • Due to a limited change area, students are asked to come dressed for class.
  • Other than teachers and students, no one is allowed to enter a studio while class is in session. If there is an emergency where you must speak to your child, please ask someone from the office to enter the studio for you.
  • No food or drink allowed in the studios. The designated areas for food and drink are the change rooms and waiting areas.  Please keep our studio clean by disposing of all garbage in the bins provided.
  • No gum in the facility
  • No horseplay in the facility
  • All persons entering the studio must remove outdoor footwear before entering the facility. Please place footwear on or under the racks provided at the entrance.
  • Anyone found defacing Irish Dance studio property will be dismissed from the studio.
  • No street shoes allowed in any of the studios.
  • The Irish Dance Studio is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Please leave valuables at home.
  • In the event of bad weather, please check the IDS website or studio answering service after 2:00 p.m. for any announcements regarding class cancellation. The re-scheduling of cancelled classes may or may not be possible.
  • The studio offers full time reception staff during office hours. Please direct all general enquiries to them. They will be happy to answer your calls and questions!

For the Students:

  • All students must be dressed appropriately for all dance classes. Proper dance attire must be worn. Please see dress code for dancewear requirements.
  • For all dance classes, hair must be securely tied back in a ponytail or bun, with bangs off face. Medium and shorter hair lengths should be worn back from the face with combs, barrettes and/or bobby pins. 
  • Students will not be allowed into class without hair tied back and proper dance attire.
  • Please keep dancewear neat, clean and odour free. Also, please refrain from wearing jewelry to class. Dancers will be asked to remove any jewelry. IDS  is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.
  • Please make sure that all your dance possessions have your name on them, especially dance shoes. Many dancers wear the exact same style and size of shoe as you, and it is easy to misplace items when so many dancers share the same change area.
  • Please respect your studio. Keep change area clean in consideration of the dancers who use the change area after you. Please dispose of any garbage in the bins provided.
  • Irish dancers must dispose of all black electrical tape in the garbage bins.
  • All dancers should have a supply of sundry items in their dance bag. These would include: bobbypins, hair elastics, safety pins, and bandaids. Ballet dancers wearing pointe shoes should carry a portable sewing kit and competitive Irish dancers should carry an extra roll of tape.
  • Please make every effort to attend all classes. If you cannot attend a class, please inform the office of your absence.
  • The studio is not responsible for missed notices due to absence. If you have been absent, please check with the office for anything handed out in your absence.
  • Students are not allowed to enter a dance studio without a teacher present. This is for your safety.
  • Students will not hang on ballet barres or touch mirrors.
  • Students will show the utmost respect to teachers, office staff, parents, fellow dancers and the IDS facility at all times.


For the Parents:

  • Please be sure to pick your child up promptly after class. The studio is an extremely busy place and not responsible for your children after class. Please remember that the studio is not a child care facility.
  • Small children/siblings must be supervised at all times. Absolutely no horseplay permitted in the studio.
  • Please do not disturb a class in progress. If there is an urgent matter, please ask the office staff to relay a message for you.
  • If you need to speak to a teacher for longer than 2 minutes, please make an appointment with the office…they would be happy to set one up.
  • Please make every effort to have your child to dance class on time. We understand that everyone has a schedule; please respect ours.
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that all of your contact information is up to date in the office. In the event of an emergency, this is crucial.


The Bottom Line:

  • Student fees are based on the whole dance season starting in September and finishing in June. A student registered in September is considered to be registered for the full season.
  • The Irish Dance Studio will administer a $50.00 service charge to all cheques returned by the bank for whatever reason. Once you have been notified, your replacement payment, along with the service charge must be submitted within 7 days.
  • Replacement payments by cheque will not be accepted unless certified.
  • There are no refunds or transferal of fees on any payments received by The Irish Dance Studio Inc. This includes registration fees, missed classes, costume fees, competition fees or any unused portion of term payments.
  • Refunds are available only prior to the commencement of classes, less a $35.00 administration fee per student. 
  • There are no refunds for missed classes. Make-up classes are available to students if the absence is due to illness or studio cancellation. Parents must call the studio to inform us of the illness/absence before the scheduled class time. All make-up classes must be completed within one month of the missed class.
